Krita 2.6 released

Tue Feb 05, 2013 6:28 pm
It'll be a bit before the package will hit the repo's of the various Linux distributions, and I'm still struggling with a horrible dbus problem on Windows, but today's the day -- Krita 2.6 has been released.

PSD support, improved performance, bug fixes, OpenColorIO integration and more!

Read all about (and enjoy the artwork) in http://krita.org/aboutkrita26.pdf :-)

Thanks a LOT. I am installing Linux again, because I cant stand anymore lack of Krita and MyPaint on Windows. I just cant find anything just as good as those two - That includes many commercial softwares that are just... not as good for my needs. Great job!

Awesome!
Krita already has everything I need and it just got better. Thanks to developer.
And to other artists, try to donate if you can. It is really only good app for paining just like Nezumi says. It is worth supporting.

Windows installers are now at http://www.kogmbh.com/download.html. Some notes:

* there's a git master version which is very experimental
* there's a 2.6.0 installer

I need to redo them today since they conflict with the kritasketch installer. Also, I'm going to try to make new versions with Vc vectorization support and maybe fix the openexr support. But they work. For some reason, you need to reboot, I'm afraid, after installation.

Yes, 2.6.8.3 is a snapshot from git master. I plan to update it at least once a week.

Congrats to all involved in making of Krita 2.6.
I have to appreciate that Lasso tool is improved to a great extent :) ,though " little imrovement is still definately desired regarding more thinner selection lines/curves to make selections more easier."
Why it is so that the thickness of the selection line varries from thin to thick as speed increases?
The thicknes of the selection line should not varry as speed increases.

The lasso tool performs well at low speeds.

I have been able to find an alternative way to select parts of images instead of using lasso tool, more precisely,as discussed in my two threads.
Only due to this alternative technique,I have ticked my thread on lasso tool problem as resolved.Otherwise,I would not have deemed it to be cent percent solved.

In 2.6,Speed has increased a bit, evergreen brushes of Krita feel more special now.
The layout seems to be more fresh.

Krita 2.7 Pre-Alpha for Windows has a bug that makes Krita continuously draw line even if stylus is off the tablet, which is making it pretty much unusable now. Bug report was sent.
On a positive note - Krita looks good now! All elements of UI are nicely done and are affected by themes. Good job on that one!

I have to wait with testing it deeper for mentioned bug to be fixed.
