opengl works for me, and seems fast and responsive :) (opengl hasn't worked this well on ubuntu for me)
my setup: windows 8 64bit, amd fx 6120 six core processor, amd radeon hd 6770 graphics (catalyst 13.4)

cintiq offset bug (298144) remains (tested with opengl on and off, wacom driver 6.3.6w3, cintiq 20wsx)

edit:
i've noticed another possible bug,
once i click create and the canvas is setup krita never fills the full screen, i have to manually click maximize each time (not a big deal)

There is an issue where switching to mirror view, also 'mirrors' tilt controls. So brushes with rotation controlled by ascesion, rotate to the opposite direction when in mirror view.
I created a bug report for this, but also post it here as I cannot tell if this is windows related or a general issue.
I was very glad I found that, as it explained many unexpected brush behaviors :D

I'm currently testing Krita in Windows 8 and alpha lock is working, but alpha inheritance isn't... Additionally strokes sometimes don't appear, and the cursor keeps getting stuck as a hand, magnifying glass or eyedropper instead of the selected tool, often staying that way until closing/reopening. Also experiencing more instability than with the previous build in XP Pro, usually in the form of the application suddenly disappearing when touching pen to Wacom...

I'm using the W8 Enterprise evaluation so I guess it could be any number of things... but I have a Windows 8 Pro upgrade arriving in a couple of days so I'll do some more testing in that.

the cursor gets stuck as a hand for me sometimes, requiring a restart of krita.
i haven't worked too much with krita for windows because of the cintiq offset issue
(lines draw about 1cm away from where the stylus touches the cintiq screen)

The cursor issue got fixed yesterday, so I'll make a new build, probably today :-)

Great!

Incidentally the instability I spoke of seems to be related to Autosave for the most part. When it's enabled, the program closes down by itself after a minute or two, even when idle, irrespective of the "Autosave every x minutes" setting. Frequently the same thing happens when doing something else though, such as trying to run a filter, or bringing it out of fullscreen mode with ctrl-shift-f as on one occasion.

Is "today" any closer? ;) Just asking, no pun intended.

No :-(. I got a 64 bits build working yesterday, but when I wanted to package it, it started to fail... So I'm back to debugging.

Okay, new win32 build: http://heap.kogmbh.net/boud/krita_2.7.8.8.msi.

This fixes the cursor issue and has a speed improvement for predefined brushes. Please test, if it is better than the previous build I will publish it on the download page.

The performance is great except that anti-aliasing seems to have suffered for it. Things seem more jagged. This is the autobrush and Basic_ink_05 through Basic_ink_tilt_20:

Though this is TheraHedwig's inking_dynamic_pen brush, it's another example:

The top is 2.7.8.7, bottom is the new version. Both were, I believe, done with the exact same brush and settings.

Hm... That is strange, since neither brush uses the predefined brush feature, and that's the only bit that was changed!

I also spent some time testing and didn't notice any change in the brush behavior.
Additionally, this release seems as stable as the 2.7.8.6 - and the new features work perfectly so far.
There is still the issue with fav palette not showing up in full screen (opengl active). But the work around is still there: Bring it up in normal screen mode, and after that it works as it should until the end of the session.

Thanks boudewijn, keep them coming :)

when attempting to use 16 bit depth i found the canvas doesn't fill the screen as in 8 bit depth
(and zoom to fit doesn't change anything) this issue seems to be exclusive to opengl enabled
Image
tested in krita 2.7.8.7 & 2.7.8.8
settings:
cmyk model
16 bit depth
opengl enabled
system:
windows 8 64 bit
amd catalyst 13.4
radeon hd 6770

i hope this helps, if more info is needed let me know :)

Thanks for testing! This is definitely a bug, could you report the bug in bugs.kde.org, so it doesn't get lost?
