It's still to be seen if this guys have some luck in the artst-oriented gadget market, but, regardig tablets, in the future this would be an interesting option to keep in mind, : http://www.yiynova.com/En/proddetails.php?proid=3&clsid=1%3F%3E

@gasss97, if you have an Ubuntu based distro, for install dependencies for build Qt try with:
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get build-dep libqtcore4

Edit:
Well, I tried installing Qt with the modifications given by JedTheKrampus and viktoria.s. My device still not working correctly with Qt apps.
Code: Select all

Hi!

I just tested my Genius Mousepen i608X tablet with the wacom driver in Xubuntu 12.10 Beta 2 64 bit and it worked :) :) :)
I am so happy!
And I have got pressure in Krita without doing anything with Qt :) :) :).

I have created /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/52-genius-on-wacom.conf with the following content:
Code: Select all
Section "InputClass"
   Identifier "Kye class"
   MatchProduct "i608X"
   MatchIsTablet "on"
   MatchDevicePath "/dev/input/event*"
   Driver "wacom"
EndSection

So even if you got a non-wacom tablet you may try if it works with the wacom driver or not (at your own risk of course), just in case it will work....

(You can find more information on how to configure a tablet with the wacom driver here: http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/d ... nput-wacom.)

Good luck guys!

Hello viktoria.s. Good news that your tablet work with wacom driver. Can you use the configuration tools for wacom too?
What shows "lsusb" about your tablet? is it identified as Waltop?

Unfortunately not. I can configure it only by using xsetwacom command.

No, this tablet is a KYE tablet. For more information on this tablet you can visit: https://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/ ... ePen_i608X.

Hi there.

I'm new to Ubuntu 12.10 and I have a Genius Tablet. I was wondering what code I would write in the terminal to make the Genius tablet work with the Wacom Tablet driver already on Ubuntu?

Thanks much. :)

Hi Kaiverta,

exactly what king of tablet do you have? Can you tell what kind of informations lsusb and xinput gives about your tablet?
Generally you have to create /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/52-genius-on-wacom.conf file with similar content with mine. (See that with couple of post above.)

Whew, jeez. Kaiverta here. After numerous problems over the course of the day trying to log into that other account, I've had to make a new one.

Hi Viktoria. :) My tablet is a Genius M912. Pensketch.

In order to get information about my tablet, I should plug it in and go to terminal and type 'lsusb' and 'xinput' separately?

I've only had Ubuntu for about eight days, so I'm still very, very new to the whole commands thing. Please forgive my ignorance. :<

I looked up your tablet here: http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/d ... ort_status. It said that this tablet needs diagnostics so it might not be supported at all. So the question occurs: can you use your tablet in other applications like gimp or mypaint?

Yes. That's right. :)

Hi there.

I actually can't use my tablet at all. I can use it to move the cursor around, but not to select anything - and therefore, not to draw.

I had this problem with Windows (before my current Ubuntu installation) and all I needed to do was enable the little iotablet thingy that goes in the taskbar (which came from the installation disc). That seemed to fix the problem.

I tried it in GIMP and mypaint and still could not select anything. I really don't want to have to move back to Windows. It gave me a lot of issues. :(

I did a lsusb and xinput terminal search separately, and pasted them here for you to look: http://paste.ubuntu.com/1365987/

Thank you for the output data. That was useful. But unfortunately there are no kernel drivers for your tablet yet. The tablet diagnostics has been collected, but the driver has not been implemented yet. (At least as far as I know.) I do not suggest to try to use the wacom driver for that model now because that can make the X not to start up.
I suggest you to keep an eye on the Digimend's development mailing list's "Genius M912A tablet manufactured by KYE" thread here: http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/foru ... mend-devel.

Oh, that is a huge shame. :( Alright, thank you very much for your help. :)

I don't suppose you'd know anything about making a Lexmark X8350 printer work with Ubuntu, would you? 8)

Well I cannot help you with the printer set up. But I suggest you to try ubuntu forums for asking help if needed. And I guess if the printer does not work well with Krita, you can always start a new thread in this forum. :)
