It appears that obex-data-server, the process responsible for handling the communication with the Smartphone is crashing when you attempt to upload a file to the Smartphone. Unfortunately there is little Bluedevil can do about this (although it could handle the case of it going away better - providing an error message or similar).

I would suggest browsing to your device, attaching a debugger to obex-data-server, then trying to upload a file. The debugger should catch the crash, and allow you to generate a backtrace which you can report to your distribution - who will hopefully provide a bug fix.

I will pop this issue again because I'm too found similar odd behavior in kubuntu 12.40, Linux 3.2.0-34-generic (and older in 3.2.0-x builds), kde 4.9.3 and older (as I can remember all 4.9.x have this issues) but with exceptions
1). I can't copy anything to device using Dolphin (kio_obexftp) but unlike to the first post the file size doesn't mater again I can't copy anything
2). dmesg
[97710.792010] Bluetooth: hci0 command tx timeout
3). no events stored into syslog

but further
4). Like in the first post I easily browse the device using Dolphin and may even create new folders
5). I can send files to device using bluedevil-sendfile or KDE Send Files dialog.
5). in contrast to first post obex-data-server didn't crashed
6). and I can send files to device using console obexftp tool

so the problem more likely somewhere into kio_objexftp or into bluedevil...

Unfortunately obex-data-server sometimes gets stuck instead of crashing - which is likely what is happening here.
I've talked with the developer of Bluedevil and they'd appreciate it if you can file a bug report so they can triage this issue more directly.

Please include information on the version of Bluedevil, KDE, obex-data-server and bluez in use on your system in your report.

The version of Bluez you are using can be retrieved from your package manager.
As for the version of obex-data-server, running this command should give you the version:
Code: Select all
obex-data-server --version

You can get the version of KDE and Bluedevil in one command by running:
Code: Select all
bluedevil-monolithic --version
