Liferea -> Akregator switcher
Hi all!!
I am new to kde, i just switched from gnome barely a month ago, and the only app i cannot get my fingers off is liferea.
I have been trying to use akregator and i really like it, but i miss a couple of features that the gnome reader has, but the kde one does not, and i want to share them with you.... maybe there is a way to go around them!!!!
First one is the obvious luck of ad blocker in akregator: In liferea, i see the pages wothout any ad banner.... unlike in liferea....
The second one, is the luck of integration of so basic plugis for web browsing as flash player can be..... i cannot see any video that is being shared via rss..... i have to open the page in the external web browser..... kind of not practic at all......
Finally, in liferea, you have anicon in which you can just see the news that have still not been reviewed, and once you watch them, they dissapear from this folder......
I dont want to say this app is useless or whatever: I think is pretty nice, but still has these features missing as for my poit of view...
Is there any way to fix these "issues"? maybe is a misconfiguration problem....
If they are features that are not actually present, whould it be possible to send a "feature request" to the devs?
Thanks !!!!!

Re: Liferea -> Akregator switcher
re ad blocker: I assume that akregator can access a proxy and if so you can install privoxy which will ad block (and ad block well)

Akregator will follow the KDE settings, as specified in System Settings.

Re: Liferea -> Akregator switcher
You mean you can tweak it from the system's settings? How?
Re: Liferea -> Akregator switcher
Akregator uses KIO, which follows global settings configurable through System Settings > Network Settings.
Can you check to see if Konqueror can find Web Browser plugins? If it can't, open Konqueror > Settings > Configure Konqueror > Web Browsing > Plugins.
Make sure "Enable Plugins Globally is ticked on the Global Settings tab, and on the Plugins tab, check that the plugins you need have been found. You may find clicking "Scan for plugins" will make them be picked up.

Re: Liferea -> Akregator switcher
Ok, about the ads, i still can live with a couple of extra banners.... but the flash playback from within the reader is still something i dont get to work.
As you suggested, i checked that conkeror actually has the correct plugins installed. I just went to adobes flash page and it was correctly being showed.
Than, i checked that the "Enable Plugins Globally" option was ticked on the Global Settings tab, still nothing......
Any more ideas? I think akregator could be pretty nice once i configure it properly......

Re: Liferea -> Akregator switcher
If it works correctly in Konqueror then it should work correctly in Akregator. Please file a bug at bugs.kde.org regarding that. If you are using a version of KDE older than 4.3, please consider upgrading.
