Make sure your system is set up correctly!

I tried renaming the akonadi config folders in ~/.local/share and in ~/.config, which had no effect...

I hope someone in here can hint me into the right direction....

Hi there,

I have exactly the same problem, but interestingly only on my desktop computer (Sabayon system) on the notebooks (Sabayon and Manjaro systems) everything works properly. Yesterday I tried to copy every config files from one the laptops to my main computer and after that Akonadi (and Kmail) worked without problems until the next restart. :-/

The only difference between the laptops and desk computer is that the Oracle SQL Developer has installed on the desktop. Could it change anything in my MySQL settings? Honestly, I've run out of ideas. :(

What about killing any akonadi* process if running, then attempt an "akonadictl start"?

Hi Ritana,

sry to hear that you are having the exact same problem i wasn't sure if you still stucked with it... as i have seen your problem.

But i can add that i added some filters too... and after reboot everything seemed to be broken.

@einar:
Wow! That pretty much fixed it... I just hope it won't be like it was for Ritana and return a few days later...
I will try removing the filter and see if i can get it to work in a different way. At least i'm having my mails back...

Well, I still believe my problem roots in my environment. I've found a lots of solution by with I managed to fix this error temporarily but after halting the system everything started again... Interestingly it seems due to halting the system, if I simply reboot it, akonadi tends to work again... *confused*

Well my issues is there every time i restart.

At least i can fix it with killing Akonadi and restarting it manual... which is at least a short time solution.
It also seems that my filters are already gone. Or at least they don't get loaded when i start starting akonadi after terminating the session that is started by Kontact/Kmail itself.

Can i check somewhere manuall if the filters are still there and remove them?

Umm, I think I have one (possible) solution here: I've simply incremented the size of my /tmp folder from 100M upto 600Mbytes and now akonadi seems work. So I've just modified the needed line of /etc/fstab as bellow:

tmpfs /tmp tmpfs noexec,nosuid,nodev,size=600M 0 0

I hope I won't have more problem with it.

You may want to file a bug report. Having a small /tmp and this resulting in Akonadi not being functional is not exactly an expected behavior. If not a bug, at least it should be documented somewhere.

@einar:

Thank you for your help.

In fact, I don't know if it's connected to size of /tmp or not.

I've tried to compile a (very short) C++ code but the compilation was exterminated due to lack of enough free space on device /tmp.
Firstly I though my cron didn't purge this folder for some reason so I listened it but it didn't contain anything but an chromium entry and the usual KDE-stuffs. (akonadi ran in that time). So I increased the /tmp folder's size and restart.

And after this, akonadi tends to start properly at every time I boot with the exception of only one attempt.

Do you think it could be connected to changing size of this folder ?
(I didn't do any relevant change beside increasing the tmp)

It may as well be. I would suggest to check /tmp state if this issue occurs again.
