Problems with focus and Device notifier

Two scenarios:
a) I plug in a new device with no file manager (konqueror, in my case) open. I mount it through the Device Notifier: Konqueror does not get the focus.

b) I plug in a new device with konqueror open. I mount it through the Device Notifier: the focus is stolen away from Konqueror !

This has been going on for a year or so, if I recall correctly.

Could it have anything to do with the fact that I choose Konqueror as my file manager and not dolphin?
Is there any workaround?

BTW: konqueror focus stealing setting is set to None.

Do other programs opened via the device notifier (such as Gwenview with imaging devices, or K3b with writeable optical media) get focus correctly, or do none of them receive focus properly?

This could be KWin's focus stealing prevention kicking in (even though you mention it is set to none) as Plasma Desktop (and in particular, the Device Notifier applet) has focus at the time the application is launched.

The first thign I do when I install KDE is delete everything in /usr/.../solid/actions/...., so I don't know about other programs.
I'll restore the appropriate files and test it.
Thanks for the hint.

I restored solid actions and no: the other actions do not misbehave concerning focus.

Any ideas?

Just to see if this is a bug with Konqueror - could you try changing your default file manager back to Dolphin for a quick moment and see if Dolphin receives focus properly? This could very well be a bug in Konqueror you are seeing.

Indeed, it is a problem with konqueror AND I have narrowed it down to the option of
"Open as tab .... when URLs are called..." (My system is in Spanish).
I.e., when I untick (untack? unchoose? unselect?) that option, the whole focus issue works perfectly, BUT I am left with two instances of Konqueror open, which I hate.

All in all, and given that it seems to be something deep inside konqueror's code, I don't think there is much left to do. :-\

In this case, the only probable recourse is to file a bug against Konqueror i'm afraid.
The last thing you could check is KWin's focus stealing prevention settings - but in this case I suspect the issue is that Konqueror is not requesting focus.
