Akonadi should be started when an application requests its services.

Hm, not sure whether I should open a new thread or not for my issue, but let's try it here as it is somewhat related.

Issue:
I log in, kontact starts, akonadi gets called up, I input my kwallet password, akonadi completes startup, I cannot access kaddressbook because of fault in akonadi.

Workaround:
I stop akonadi and start it again and everything is hunky-dory.

Sooo, this being somewhat cumbersome I wondered whether anybody had any idea how to fix this.

Can you see any sign of where this error originates from in the Akonadi logs? ( in ~/.local/share/akonadi )

Do you compile KDE yourself? If so, do you have KDE installed locally, and how do you ensure it starts the trunk version instead of the normal system KDE?

Hello

just to finish my issue. I managed to tell akonadi my self compiled modules and now it starts. Correctly it does not start when it does not have any modules. Thanks!

Michael

No self compiling here, just vanilla KDE from the Arch repos.

@toad: Do you have KDE installed anywhere else other than /opt/kde/

Nope. But I do have other .kde and .kde4 folders all over the place (don't ask) but NOT in ~, /opt or /usr

Ok, can you please file a bug to this effect? Looks like Akonadi might be not loading plugins properly if spread across multiple locations.

Aye, aye, captain.

Apparently solved by 4.4.1 - I'll be watching this space.
