[IMPLEMENTED] [KIO] ISO slave

Sat Mar 21, 2009 9:13 pm
Hope this will make sense.
I would like to have a KIO slave to browse ISO files. Maybe even edit them or something like that.
I have yet to find a ISO mounter for KDE. And I think something as powerful as KIO slave would be really cool.
The main idea is that not only you would be able to mount iso but also change it on-fly and etc.
(hope that K3B dose't have this already)

Acetoneiso is an iso mounter for KDE 4, but being able to browse them natively using a kio slave would be so much more convenient. +1

This is available from Krusader ( http://www.krusader.org/ ) it was only recently ported to KDE 4.

just wanted to post similar idea. There are other tools, sure, one can even use mount loop. Having it in KDE would be just so much cooler :)

I needed the same feature, and solved at the moment using fuseiso in a service menu in konqueror/dolphin.
But I'd like to see such a simple feature as a default in my desktop environment.

Wasn't there a KIO for KDE3 that allowed browsing of ISO files? Of course it didn't support editing the ISO at all, so that would be great!

Proudly dual-booting openSUSE 11.1 with KDE 4.3 and Windows Vista on a Toshiba A205-S4577 since July 2007.

Yes, as stated above, it came from Krusader.

Idea marked as implemented.
Please use the ISO KIO slave from Krusader.

Nice to know it! I've installed krusader and got this feature.
But why don't provide this feature as a default, since a lot of people would look for it, without using krusader? (I use and love konqueror, even in KDE4)

There's another thing I don't understand, but I suppose it will be OT here... I've seen that I can see the contents of an ISO file typing iso:/path/to/my/file.iso in the address bar, and was wondering if there was a way to make it work also on double click.

best regards
gerlos
