After much hassles, my nvidia driver is finally running, but it was suggested that because of a myriad of other apps and system errors, I may have used a corrupted iso. I was also advised (from linuxquestions.org forum) to manually delete all files with a dot (,) before new installation so that nothing from previous install will be re-used during format.
I would like to keep the nvidia configuration, but am not sure which file(s) that would be. I can see one file only in my home directory ".nvidia-settings-rc" . Would keeping this file eliminates the need for me to get it to display 1920x1080 after installation of nvidia driver? Thanks |

You could probably open that file with a text editor (such as KWrite or Kate) and see if that data is contained in it.
I would also advise taking a copy of /etc/X11/xorg.conf.
