I asked about these on Debian forums, but no one had a clue it seems.

Since KDE 4.10(.5) arrived in Debian testing, it seems to have better performance, there are quite a number of annoying bugs.

1. Screen locking doesn't work anymore, except in "Desktop Widgets" mode, and it's not switchable by Ctrl+Alt+L anymore.

2. Apper is not able to display any updates failing with such error:
Code: Select all
Unable to open database read-only: Database action 'prepare dependency insert statement' failed: table dependencies has no column named items_installed

3. Akonadi fails to start with MySQL error, even though I removed akonadi-backend-sqlite and installed akonadi-backend-mysql:
Code: Select all
Database error: Cannot open database.
Last driver error: "QMYSQL: Unable to connect"
Last database error: "Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '<home>/.local/share/akonadi/socket-<host>/mysql.socket' (2)"
Unable to open database "Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '<home>/.local/share/akonadi/socket-<host>/mysql.socket' (2) QMYSQL: Unable to connect"

Any clue how to fix these?

For Akonadi, is "Use internal MySQL server" checked in Akonadi Console > Server > Configure server?

Ah, thanks that indeed was off. So this solves #3 :) I'm not really using Akonadi, but every time I logged in, a migration UI popped up trying to migrate the default address book and other stuff, and that always failed because of not being able to start Akonadi.

For #1, could you check the settings for screen locking in System Settings? Setting it to blank screen, assuming compositing is enabled, should be the most reliable of the options.

I've no idea about #2 unfortunately - that looks like some form of apt incompatibility or something similar.
