Anyone here use PC-BSD which uses kde by default? I have it on my laptop and I am really pleased with it.
However does anyone know how to install the flash plugins? |

I use KDE 4.1.1 on FreeBSD, not PC-BSD, but from what I've heard on ##freebsd, since there is no binary compatible version of Flash for FreeBSD, your best bet is to run Firefox inside of Wine, and run the Window's version of Flash in that instead. In fact, there are even PBI's for it: http://www.pbidir.com/bt/pbi/74/firefox2__win_ (Firefox 2) http://www.pbidir.com/bt/pbi/134/firefox3__win_ (Firefox 3)

as I know linux-flashplugin9 port is still unstable, but some patches for linuxolator are going to be commited soon into freebsd:
http://www.nabble.com/firefox---flash9- ... 88i40.html On freebsd You may use linux-flashplugin7 or wine+any flash.

Have you tried those PBI's?

I'm using PC-BSD 7 and now I'm using linux-opera, which seems to have Flash plugin already in it. But I converted to Opera just recently (because of some speed and compatibility issues) and before that I had been using gnash (klash) in Konqueror. The latest versions (since 0.8.3) are quite good and play even Youtube videos, so you can give it a try

The flashplugin is working once again. But you need to be using FreeBSD 7.1 (or RELENG_7). The problem was with linprocfs.
p.s. I *really* want a native flash or flash-clone, however. It's bad enough that the web has standardized on a proprietary closed-source plugin, but standardizing on a plugin that isn't native to my system is a bit too much to swallow.
