I added KDE to Ubuntu about six months ago and it worked just fine even though there were some clashes between KDE and Gnome applications and packages. I know they have a KDE version of Linux Mint but it is i386 not x86_64 and it slows my laptop down, I tried it. Right now I'm running Gloria x86_64 with Gnome desktop. My question is can I install KDE over Gloria Like I did over Ubuntu?

Since Mint is a derivate of Ubuntu, it should be possible to install KDE without many problems.
You should be able to avoid many conflicts by not installing KDM, although I do not know if this will affect KDE's ability to shutdown / restart / hibernate / sleep the computer.

Could I do that with something like "sudo apt-get install kde-desktop"? Or should I download an iso from KDE like a live CD and work from that?

Did some research on three forums, Ubuntu, KDE and Linux Mint. Decided to use synaptic to install K-desktop (KDE) It may be an earlier version 4.2.2 BUT! it not only is stable I am getting use of my wireless through Gnome application nm-applet. I kept Gnome as an alternative desktop. I may try to upgrade later, for now I have the best of both worlds.

Don't know if anyone is still watching this string since I solved it, but my new signature confirms I now Have KDE 4.3.2 running with LinuxMint/7 Gloria.
