Hello
I've got a question: how I can compile KDE 3.5.10 from source on Slackware 13.0 (There is no KDE 4.2 on my pc, only default desktop environments and GNOME). Thanks

You can either
* Compile it by hand. Guide: http://techbase.kde.org/Getting_Started ... le_Version * Or use kdesvn-build that automates everything: http://kdesvn-build.kde.org/ You still have to properly configure it: http://kdesvn-build.kde.org/documentation/
connect(post, SIGNAL(readSignature()), qapp, SLOT(quit()));

But KDE 3.5.10 doesn't recognize my USB flash memory.

KDE used HAL directly in KDE 3 for such support I believe. It is possible that due to an API change or non-presence of HAL this feature is no longer functional.

This makes me upset...
I have no choice - I'll continue using KDE 4.2 and I'll wait 4.3 or may be later version of KDE to be applicated to Slackware. Thanks a lot

I recommend to compile KDE4 from trunk.
Anyway there are KDE 4.3.4 packages in current tree if you interested. But before installing them, don't forget about kdelibs-experimental and oxygen-icons packages. ftp://ftp.slackware.com/pub/slackware/s ... kware/kde/ About your problem with kde3, it's caused by lack of HAL. Install it, remembering that parted is one of its dependency now.

I have automounting working on Slackware64 13.0 KDE 3.5.10
The package dbus-qt3 is missing. I built the version from 12.2, which needs the configure option "--with-qt3-moc=/opt/kde3/bin/moc" Then you need to rebuild kdebase. USB drives will be detected just like they used to. Good luck! BTW, kdepim is also missing from the "unsupported" KDE 3.5.10 we got with Slackware 13.0. search for a patch to allow this to compile. I'll post the patch on request. But there's probably very little interest in 3.5.10 these days. |

if you want to stay with 13.0, and not update to -current, there are packages for kde-4.3.1 available at http://cardinal.lizella.net/~vbatts/kde/kde4-packages/4.3.1/ take care, |
