Hello all!
I'm running a clean install of Fedora 17 with KDE 4.8. At first I was able to use the Present Windows - All Desktops option of Active Screen Edge Action. But when I went to System Settings -> Workspace Behavior -> Screen Edges and tried to set up a few customized commands, I found out that every single option below "Prevent Screen Locking" is grey-ed out. I can't access it. I've no idea why is this happening. I would post a screenshot, but the Prnt Scrn button doesn't seem to work when a button from the Active Screen Edge Action preview has been clicked. Under Desktop Effects -> Window Management all I'm using is Cover Switch and Desktop Animation, I don't know if that helps. Can anyone help me out with unlocking the rest of the options? |

In regards to taking a screenshot, you may find it helpful to launch "ksnapshot" seperately, then setup a timer.

Oh, thanks a lot, mate, I hadn't payed enough attention. So, this is what I'm talking about:

Some of those are disabled on my system as well.
I believe this is related to which Desktop Effects you have selected for 'desktop switching', and to which effects you have enabled.

Yes, I thought it should be related to that, but I can't figure out how.
Take a look at these screenshots, because I see nothing conflicting between them and the Active Screen Edge Action. Maybe you will? http://i.imgur.com/tAjEu.png http://i.imgur.com/PNayK.png |

Well, I returned all the Desktop Effects to their default values, logged off then logged on, but to no avail. The options I've shown earlier are still grayed out. Any ideas why?

In this case it is not a case of conflicts - but a case of the functionality being available and enabled.
If the appropriate effect is not selected (to be the window switcher for instance) then it cannot be triggered by a screen edge action. To enable the "Present Windows" edge options for instance, one must have the "Present Windows" desktop effect enabled. Moving to the KWin forum.
