i use kde 4.9.3 on kubuntu 12.10. Gtk2 and gtk3 application does not have shadows of pop-up menu, if i don't use qtCurve or oxygen engines for gtk. (i wont to use zukitwo theme for gtk and oxygen fot qt, but it's not impotant %) ) And libreoffice never had this shadows. There are hard to focus on menu whithout shadow What should i do?

The shadows are implemented by the GTK style and it's a KDE specific extension. It is unlikely that any non-KDE focused widget style supports it.

it's sadly
i can use kwin with xcompmgr, but it's not very good. Possibility to add shadows to all menus in kwin composoting will not be added in next releases of kde, such as 4.11, isn't it? i wish this small feature in such powerfull window manager, as kwin |

I have such shadows already with Qt applications - as the Oxygen style (Qt) provides this functionality.

No, there are no plans to add such a feature. It doesn't make much sense - the shadow needs to be combined with the style otherwise it does not look good. The information on how it has to look is only available to the style and that's why we moved it into the style. Been there, do not go back. |

pro tip: use Calligra, it has a much better UI and is already good enough for most tasks |
