Hi everyone,
I know there is an option in Kwin that is called "Suspend desktop effects for fullscreen windows" which is very helpful for having a little performance boost in fullscreen gaming. The thing is, I have a dual monitor configuration, and usually, when a game (on Steam for example) gets full screen, it takes one screen only (which is what I want, I don't want the game to be displayed on the two monitors), and it would be nice to be able to suspend ddesktop effects there too. Is it possible in some way (instead manually disabling the effects each time I start a game) ? I'm using KDE 4.10.1 on Chakra with the nVidia proprietary drivers. |

I haven't tried that for quite some time, but the option is supposed to work exactly like that: only on the screen the window is on. But be aware that this basically removes all possible performance improvements as the compositor is still up and running.

Thank you for your answer. Maybe my question wasn't very clear : actually, what I want is that the desktop effects get suspended on both monitors when a game runs fullscreen on one monitor. And from what I got from your answer, is that the "suspend" affects only one monitor (which is the opposite of what I want)...

yes, suspend does not support both screens - doesn't make much sense. If you want that create a window rule to block compositing (that's best anyway)

Okay, I'll do that. Thanks for your answer, and thanks for your great work on Kwin.
