Hi,
I have just upgraded to ubuntu 13.04 with kernel 3.10.6. After that I have updated my fglrx to 13.8 beta and after that I have added ppa:kubuntu-ppa/backports and I have upgraded my system. After reboot my effects settings changed to xrander, so I tried to apply new opengl 2.1,2.0 and 3.1 but none of them works. It says that "it was not possible to activate effects using those options, check the X configuration or change the options about the composition type". Here is my xorg.conf: http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=D6MPUEZv and my Xorg.0.log: http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=nXF80qmH This is the output of glxinfo:
and this is the output of fglrxinfo:
How can I solve it? Thanks |

Looks like something is broken in your fglrx setup. This is unfortunately rather common with 13.04. Best check that the driver is installed correctly or switch to the free (and better) driver.

Thanks, I thought about that so I reinstall fglrx 13.8 after upgrade but it's the same, until I had kde 4.10.5 it was working well. I also thought to switch to open drivers but I have this problem with them: viewtopic.php?f=66&t=110720 Maybe I have to reconfigure X server? something like [this: http://askubuntu.com/questions/159663/h ... rg-xserver |

You might have to check in your distribution support channel. I cannot help you on how to setup fglrx properly on Ubuntu. All I can see is that these problems are rather common on 13.04.

Ok, it's just that it's strange because until I was with kde 4.10 it was working well with ubuntu 13.04, after upgrade to kde 4.11 from ppa the problem started. Maybe it's about some libs or something else that was removed during upgrade to kde 4.11 (I remember some removed package like kwin-style-qt and others), I don't know. |

well in your initial message you also wrote that you upgraded fglrx. Given the output of fglrxinfo your driver setup is broken - KDE packages do not affect drivers. That's a completely different layer. So personally I doubt that the upgrade has anything to do with the broken drivers.

yes, I upgraded to fglrx 13.8 when I still was on kde 4.10, only after that I upgraded to kde 4.11. edit: I downgraded to fglrx 13.4 and kernel 3.8. Everything works, also opengl 3.1. So it was a problem of fglrx 13.8 beta: here you can see my libGL error: http://phoronix.com/forums/showthread.p ... x-Released I didn't know how to apply the patch to my drivers so I went back to 13.4. I hope they will fix it. Thanks |
