Just upgraded Kubuntu 13.04 to KDE 4.11 via the kubuntu-ppa/backports repositor.
Now none of my windows have titles bars and I cant re-size any of them either. Does anybody know how to correct this? Failing that, can I easily remove KDE 4.11 and return to KDE 4.10? |

Can you check to see if KWin is running please? You can do this from KRunner > Graph Icon (System Activity).

Perhaps you have had the same problem as me in Kubuntu 12.04. Do you have installed qtcurve?
It had conflicts with package "kwin-style-qtcurve" and metapackage "qtcurve". Then "apt-get" does not handle dependencies conflicts well and not install the packages "kde-window-manager" and "kde-workspace", so you can not get window decorator. I have read that Muon and aptitude handled the conflict well. Today have been updated qtcurve packages and there are no conflicts any more. You verify that you have installed the "kde-window-manager" and "kde-workspace" packages. |

Thanks for all the replies, guys.
Yes, I'm pretty sure that kwin was running. I tried a kwin --replace but it made no difference. I don't recall it the command giving any error messages. Whatever, I've solved my problem since my initial post. I managed to roll back to the KDE 4.10 and now all is well. I did that via the ppa-purge command, which is in the repositories if you don't have it installled:
That's supposed to remove the designated ppa, plus any packages that you have installed from it. I thought that this would remove KDE 4.11 and restore 4.10, but it only did the first part! I admit that after ppa-purge had run, it gave me a long list options of what to do next, which I didn't read properly (I was multi-tasking). So, I just took the default and left me with no KDE installed at all! Thankfully, I had Cinnamon installed as an alternative Windows Manager, even though it didn't work properly. But it did enable me, at least, to log-in. From there, I dropped down to a command prompt (Ctrl-Alt F4, I think) from which I ran:
So, a bit of long way around, but I now I have KDE 4.10 restored and my windows are behaving themselves again. |

Is it possible that it could have just been that you had the border hidden? This will keep you from being able to resize windows too. Alt - f3 will pull the menu down, then [More Actions] -> uncheck [No Border].
