I'm running Kubuntu 12.04 with KDE 4.11.1 and the fglrx Catalyst driver 13.4 (from AMD's website). I have 3 monitors.
When I open a new window (any application, for example KWrite), the window opens without the side borders. The top and bottom borders are drawn. All other window controls are drawn and everything is functional. As soon as focus moves from that window, the side borders are draw and remain drawn as long as the window remains open and regardless of further focus changes. (I am unable to take a screenshot because as soon as I focus ksnapshot the missing borders from KWrite appear.) I don't think the problem is seen with the open source radeon driver, but that driver had other problems that I could not live with so I was forced to go with the fglrx driver. The other issue I see in KDE 4.11.1 is that when windows snap to the edge of the screen, they snap without considering side border width. The snap position is incorrect by the width of the border. I have a screenshot that shows this issue here: http://static.inky.ws/image/4381/KwinWi ... .09.19.png The two desktops (monitors) shown have different backgrounds and the screen edge is at the border of the red/white backgrounds. The window should have snapped to the edge but as the screenshot shows, the position is off by the size of the border.

That's a known bug with Catalyst and will be fixed in the next bugfix release.

Thanks for your reply. Do you know if this is fixed in the Catalyst 13.8 beta driver? If so, do you recommend that driver? Is there a way to be notified of these driver bugfix releases? |

sorry a misunderstanding. The bug will be fixed in the next KDE SC release (4.11.2).
