FIrst off, this is basically the same as
viewtopic.php?f=111&t=109963 but KDE 4.11.1, kernel 3.12-rc2, Ubuntu 13.04, and not virtual machine. I did not feel like taking taking that thread.. So, my kwinrc:
I tried to set Backend to OpenGL but it was set to Xrender after logout/login. Trying to reload kwin:

Intel 3000 HD, drivers from xorg-edgers, Bumblebee for Nvidia GT 630m, Nvidia 325.15.

So, this appears to be an issue with 3.12-rcX kernels only. Going back to 3.11.1 and OpenGL works. Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing the issue for 3.12-rc3?

The logged "kwin --replace" already started on XRender.

Okay, here is more info:

> OpenGL vendor string: VMware, Inc.
> OpenGL renderer string: Gallium 0.4 on llvmpipe (LLVM 3.2, 256 bits) > OpenGL version string: 2.1 Mesa 9.2.0-devel > OpenGL shading language version string: 1.30 That's a software driver. install intel-dri or the nvidia blob (depending on the GPU you want to use - or along bumblebee) and ensure it's loaded. As the debug infor suggests, you can try enforcing KWIN_COMPOSE=O1 kwin --replace & or KWIN_COMPOSE=O2 kwin --replace & But without HW acceleration, you probably won't like it |

Well, according to lsmod the i915 driver is being used. For some reason the Nvidia driver is not built for bumblebee. (and not installing with dkms). Very odd. I am going to the kernel irc for advice. Not a KDE problem. Thanks for the help. |

lsmod doesn't say anything about the driver. check /var/log/Xorg.0.log

Right, the Intel graphics MODULE. Not driver.
Odd,

Do you eventually export LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE?

I got a copy of development drivers from Intel which did the trick.
