I posted this at the mozilla forums, but I don't tend to get good replies there.
I upgraded to Thunderbird 24.1.0, and it's very "attention-seeking" compared to 24.0. Every time there is a new mail, TB inserts its window in the Task Manager in the panel, even if it's on a different desktop, flashing for attention. For example (clickable image). Note the entry with the red border. Before I received this new mail, this window entry did not exist on this virtual desktop. Is there a way to disable this behaviour in Thunderbird? I tried turning off "Show an alert". However, this only prevented the pop-up notifications from showing, and didn't change the "attention-seeking" window tab in the task manager. Alternatively (more likely?), can you tell KDE to ignore the attention-getting attitude of Thunderbird? I can use window rules to skip pager, which works, but I'd prefer it to be in the pager normally, just not so attention-seeking! (K)ubuntu 13.10 KDE 4.11.2 TB 24.1.0 from the Ubuntu repositories

Hi,
do use the FireTray addon? Release v0.4.7 added that feature. v0.4.8 has a setting for it. Best regards, Andreas |

Oh wow. Thanks so much for that! Excellent find. And thanks so much for posting, too.
For the record, FireTray preferences > Mail, and disable "Set X11 urgency hint". |

A recent update to FireTray 0.5.3 changed the location of this, and appeared to re-enable it. It's now in FireTray preferences > Mail > Window draws attention on new messages. |
