Hi,

Sounds embarrassing, but I can't figure it out and Google refuses to answer my silly questions. I just want to push the cube a bit into perspective and start some slow rotation until further notice. Is it possible?

Sort of like a screensaver you mean?

No, I don't think it is possible...

well it's X11 so you can fake a lot. There is the XTest extension which can be used to generate mouse and keyboard events. Thus all you need is a small application which activates the cube via DBus and creates mouse hold and move events.
