[Solved] Dual monitor

Tue Feb 11, 2014 9:06 pm
Hi all,
I have just added a second monitor to my pc; using the xorg.conf I set the second monitor to the left of the first.
Section "Monitor"
Identifier "DVI-0"
Option "Primary" "true"
EndSection

Section "Monitor"
Identifier "DVI-1"
Option "LeftOf" "DVI-0"
EndSection

The only thing that I don't like is that if I maximize a window it will maximize across the two screen.
Would be great to maximize a window to a single monitor.

I am using gentoo testing and KDE-4.12.2

Thanks

unless you activated the "video wall" script (run "kcmshell4 kwinscripts"), this should not happen anyway.
please post the output of "xrandr -q" to illustrate your screen setup.

As the screens don't overlap, you can expect windows to maximize to one screen only.
Have you ensured that the "video wall" script is not active?
(And just to be sure, that you're running kwin - "ps ax | grep kwin" ;-)

If so, please obtain "xwininfo" and "xprop" of such maximized window and post them (the cursor will turn into a '+' for each, clicking the window will then print the required information to konsole)
