Hello, after years with Unity I decided to try KDE. I tried it in Ubuntu 12.04 and in new Ubuntu 14.04. Of course I like it, but I found strange thing. On computers with INTEL video card (Ivy bridge probably), KDE4.8 and KDE4.13.x? I can see graphical corruption: white stripes, 3D games like HeroesOfNewerth have graphical corruptions too. Sometimes it scramble even cursor of mouse.
With Unity these problems do not appear. There are no corruption, even not in games. Strange, right? In 12.04.4 I resolved it by downgrade of mesa from 9 -> to 8. Then it is all right. BUT What to do in Ubuntu 14.04? I cannot downgrade to mesa 8 probably. |

Hi,
I think I have exactly the same problem here. I have a PC and a Notebook, both with Intel graphics and both running Debian Testing and KDE. The problem occurs on both machines. White stripes occur frequently, but unpredictable. When switching to another desktop and back they sometimes go away, but sometimes they stay or even get more. Also, text color in editors or Firefox/Thunderbird sometimes suddenly change to white. Minimizing and maximizing the application sometimes brings it back to normal. I found two workarounds: (1) Switch of desktop effects. By default pressing Alt+Shift+F12 toggles desktop effects off/on. Without them, I don't get those graphics errors any more. (2) Switch to the alternative window manager by running "kwin_gles --replace". I found this workaround just some minutes ago. So I'm not sure yet that the errors don't come back. But it looks good until now. I found (2) here: http://userbase.kde.org/Desktop_Effects ... #kwin_gles |

this is https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=333249 and if it does not happen w/ gles, it's either in the driver/mesa or the blur effect.
