How to use KWin window rules for legacy system tray icons?

The crash is "only" in the invocation of the dialog - run "kcmshell5 kwinrules". Sorry for that.

I've got it working just like that. Do you still need help? I did it all through window rules. I have synergy in there, and claws mail, they both minimize and restore to that makeshift system tray.

Hello,

just to say as of today, I still have this bug with no system tray in KDE 5.8.5, KDE Frameworks 5.28.0, Qt 5.6.1 (built against 5.6.1) in linux mint 18.

I tried to use the "wmsystemtray --non-wmaker --bgcolor white" command, but I got a "Another application is already running as the freedesktop.org protocol system tray". So I've found that is was xembedsniproxy which was the system tray (and useless in my case because it couldn't show icons for some apps such as owncloud, cryptkeeper, cadence, viber etc), so to free this I just had to "killall xembedsniproxy"
