Chrome makes kwin crash

Fri Jan 23, 2015 8:48 pm
Hi,
I cannot rely understand how to replicate this. I am reporting it here to see if anyone else is experiencing the same behaviour. Under some load and usually after a wake-up kwin crashes. Window decorations are disappearing and I cannot use most of the keyboard keys. Peculiarly global shortcuts are working fine and I am able to log out and restart kwin on the process.

It definitely is chrome that is causing the problem but I cannot replicate it consistently unfortunately. Is anyone else experiencing anything similar?

I am running:
Code: Select all
xserver-xorg-video-intel              2:2.21.15-2+b2
kde-window-manager                    4:4.11.13-2

could be Xorg acceleration method see https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php ... 2#p1444362 which points to
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/In ... nd_Firefox

other things to try:
- disable compositing
- disable graphics acceleration in Chrome
- install chrome beta

also instead or restarting KDE try restarting just Kwin in Krunner (alt+F2) with
Code: Select all
kwin --replace

OpenSuse Leap 42.1 x64, Plasma 5.x
