I think it's kwin and/or xorg which is causing this problem. Sometimes, what seems to be "random", my whole desktop just freezes up. I can't move the mouse and the keyboard doesn't do anything. I can't switch to any TTY and if I press the power button on my computer nothing happens. The only way I can get out is if I hold the power button. I've had an idea to SSH in and try to kill X to see if that would help, but I've forgot the wifi-password for the network, so I could never do it.
I almost always have cmus running in the background, and it works fine. It plays music, as it should. It even plays the next song in the playlist. I think it's kwin because I have conky running, and kwin usually uses 0-1% of my CPU, but last time it froze it (along with Xorg.bin) went up to 6%. I'm running KDE 5.8.0 and xorg 1.17.1-4 (catalyst requires an older version of xorg) on Arch Linux. |

if the mouse cursor freezes it means that it's X or even lower. The best thing is to try to get the ssh to work again.

Thanks for the guide, I got SSH working now. I'll report results when the next freeze happens (hopefully it won't). |

But please do NOT post on this (freeze in X11 or the kernel) problem there (enough diversion already |
