Hi!

I tried to set "ShowDesktopIsMinimizeAll=true" in Plasma 5 according to Comment 1 to Bug 336909 but it doesn't work:

~> qdbus org.kde.kwin /KWin reconfigure
Service 'org.kde.kwin' does not exist.

An entry in kwinrc is without effect.

How can one set this option in Plasma 5? Or is it no longer available?

System is openSUSE Leap/Plasma 5.4.2.

Regards!

a) "qdbus org.kde.KWin /KWin reconfigure" (org.kde.kwin was a "mistake" that accidentally was added to some KDE4 version, "org.kde.KWin" has always been the legal interface - though we used the wrong one as well in some locations ;-)
b) the hidden key was indeed removed in 5.4 (or rather "replaced by a kwin script to actually implement that") see https://git.reviewboard.kde.org/r/122679/
One of the major reasons was a change in the way show desktop was implemented (by lifting the desktop rather than "minimizing" windows - that was always an implementation detail that caused the misinterpretation of the feature and thus the introduction of the supersecretpetprojecthiddenconfigkey)

The script can be assigned to a random shortcut ("KWin" component)
Activate it: "kcmshell5 kwinscripts", set a shortcut: "kcmshell5 keys" (both open systemsettings dialogs)

Thank you for the quick reply!

"[...] by lifting the desktop rather than "minimizing" windows [...]"
A nice contrarian solution. ,)

The scripts works (of course), all fine now.

Plasma 5 is very responsive, at least as fast as Plasma 4, I'd say. Not bad - to say the least. ;)

So long!
