Hi,
I have this issue in Plasma (unlock mini-programs) or dolphin (delete file), when I do it the first time after the start of the program or plasma. The pop up window / dialog windows takes 2-3 seconds to open properly, in this time, only the borders of the windows are shown. This happens only when the pop up window is assigned to a sound notification. When I do it a second time (eg delete in dolphin), then I have no delay Maybe it's not a kwin problem, sorry I don't know Pulsaudio is installed kwin and plasmashell version 5.5.2 Disabling compositing has no effect. It takes so long because QtQuick (or "how plasmashell uses it", I don't care) is slow, sorry. See viewtopic.php?f=289&t=130131
It's probably extra slow (or perfoms some sync sound setup on showing the window) in special cases. You see the empty window (instead of nothing) because of a bug in Qt5 which presently kills the XSYNC protocol. See https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=356562 on details. This is supposed to be fixed (hopefully in Qt5.6) |

Hi Tom,
thx a lot for your explanation. workaround for me: switch to phonon-backend VLC: The delays are gone - I'm ok with that regards PS: I think, I had this issue also with KDE4 when KDE released KDE Applications 15.08, just fyi. But this Plasma5 installation is a fresh one; maybe some xfce-remains |
