Where did the support for separate XScreen disappear?

Hi,

I was trying to configure my monitors into two separate XScreens. I have a legit xorg.conf, xrandr can see the separate xscreens, but kwin is unable to handle the second screen: I can enter the second screen with the mouse. The mouse pointer turns into an "X" and the background of the second screen is just plain black. .. this indicates that X works ok, but that there is no window manager in the second XScreen.

So it seems, that in (very) modern window managers this capability has been lost..? And I am *not* interested in nvidia's xinerama, mosaic, etc., just in the good'ol separated XScreens (the same technology our dads used).

On the contrary, with the LXCFE window manager, both screens work as expected. I am using the same xorg.conf file.

I am experiencing this issue with kubuntu 16+, using kde plasma version 5.5.5.

Any help/clarification appreciated.

Is it a bug? .. or is KDE planning to drop support for multiple xscreen completely? (with all this wayland/ xcb / whatever stuff going on..?)

Regards,

Sampsa
