I am on KDE 5.8.8 (LTS), latest stable kernel (4.14.10) with intel graphics.

From time to time, KDE freezes. I can unfreeze it with

DISPLAY=:0 kwin_x11 --replace&

from tty1.

I found this solution after a long search. While this is, of course, very helpful, the bug is still quite annoying.

Did any of you have the same problem and found a solution? Is this bug fixed in the latest KDE? Is there a workaround (for instance, KWin could notice itself when it is not responsive, and restart itself)?

Hi,

it seems that on my system I have this bug:

I have added the symlinks as described. So far no more freezes.

But: I wonder why this was not fixed in KDE 5.8 LTS ! What is the use of a LTS if bugs don´t get fixed (and a freeze is a serios showstopper).

Should I file a bugreport, and if so, where can I do that for the LTS version?

Ok, one more freeze today.

Any ideas on how to debug this? Do others never get freezes?
