Walk through windows of current application only works once

I recently updated to Plasma 5.12.5, Frameworks 5.44, and it seems something that used to work is now broken...

I have configured a shortcut
Code: Select all
Alt-`
(alt-backtick) for "Walk Through Windows of Current Application" in Global Keyboard Shortcuts, KWin. The shortcut brings up the switcher window, but will not trigger the switch a second time i.e. alt-backtick-backtick should switch to the *second* window on the stack (like alt-tab-tab). I *can* click on the window in the popup switcher as long as I am still holding alt, but hitting backtick again does nothing.

Also note, I am able to make this work with other key combinations e.g. meta-left works as expected as a "global alternative" e.g. meta-left-left does what I would expect. However meta-left requires two hands so I prefer to use my existing shortcut (plus it shares mental memory with alt-tab as backtick is next to tab on the keyboard).

UPDATE: Ok, now meta-left is not working either -- it just switches back and forth between two app windows, ignoring the third and subsequent, without even bringing up the switcher. Meta-left in the "Alternative" entry does the same as Alt-` in the primary. This is *so* strange: I swear this was working a few minutes ago!

Can anyone else confirm this is a bug, or if there is something I can do to debug this.

Doesn't seem to be an issue with the latest Fedora 27 updates, Plasma 5.12.5 and Frameworks 5.46.0. Must have been an upstream or packaging bug that got resolved.

I can confirm that this bug appears for me too, using plasma-workspace 4:5.12.6-0ubuntu0.1 and plasma-framework version 5.44.0-0ubuntu3 (not sure if these are the same things you're referring to) in Kubuntu 18.04.

If "Walk through windows" is set to use Alt-Tab, it works correctly, but if set to use Alt-F12 it only switches window once and does not cycle further upon repeat presses of F12 while holding down Alt.

I have this (or similar) bug in the Alternative Navigation Through Windows in the task switcher seting.
Also arrow keys are not working here, so in the end it's rather useless unfortunately.

Kubuntu 18.04 (kwin 5.12.6)

Same thing here, very curious. Meta (Super) + Tab only cycles one window when set to 'Walk Through WIndows'. Alt-Tab works perfectly. Plasma 5.14.4, Manjaro 18.0.1

Hi,

Same problem here in openSUSE 15.0, KDE 5.12.7

Does anyone know if there already is a bug report on that?

The Alternative Task Switcher tab hotkey bindings are exhibiting the same problem for me. It does make it rather useless; since you can't use the mouse to hover over the switcher and click one to make it active, you have to rely on the hotkeys to gracefully cycle through the switcher.

You do realize the previous posts are about a long obsolete Plasma version. Please do not hijack old threads if you use a different version (which you didn't specify unfortunately...)

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...
