Wayland woes

Thu Sep 20, 2018 9:27 am
Hi guys,

I decided to try Plasma on Wayland. I'm impressed by the smoother experience (especially tear-free, stutter-free scrolling in Firefox), but I have some small problems that are in the way of totally switching to Wayland.

First of all, some applications are very pixelated. I think all applications that have this problem are based on GTK. I have a high DPI screen (3000x2000 at 14") so I'm using a scaling factor of 2x. This probably has to do something with it. I found one thread with the same problem, but no solution.

Second, not all touchpad features are working. Specifically, the multi-touch settings are greyed out in System Settings, and thus multitouch (two-finger right-click etc) is not working. Two-finger scroll and libinput-gestures are working though.

I also cannot change any settings (acceleration, sensitivity) of my mouse (also greyed out).

Any thoughts? Are these known problems? If not, how can I help to fix it?
