Strange walk through windows behaviour

I'm trying kde/plasma for the first time in many years and finding some odd keyboard behaviour.

I can't walk through windows with alt+tab by repeated presses of the tab key. But this works for reverse walk through with alt+shift+tab.

I typically replace alt+tab/alt+shift+tab with win+right/win+left. This works fine in xfce4 and I remember having no problems with this in kde3 and 2. But now I first have to unbind the application launcher from alt+F1 in order to also unbind it from win key. I can then use win+right as described, but not win+left.

Is this a bug or is the some way to get around it?

plasma version: 5.20.4
frameworks: 5.77.0
qt: 5.12.2
kernel: 5.4.85-1-Manjaro

I found this report on Reddit, that I share completely:
Code: Select all
KDE - alt+tab problem
Using KDE 5.14 on debian 10, AFAIK there are only two options to "Walk Through Windows", i.e. "Walk Through Windows" and "Walk Through Windows Alternative"
From my fluxbox usage, I am accustomed to have the first press of alt+tab bring into focus the window that was previously highlighted.
This allows for quick switching between the two most important windows. Using two screens with KDE, a single alt+tab press often brings me to the window on the other screen, regardless which window was focused previously.
Is there any way to always have the fluxbox-like behavior?

So I say: please give us back the possibility to switch between our recently focused windows, and not through all windows (that doesn't make sense), unless after a long press on alt+tab

Don't believe the Reddit post is the same issue: I also have experienced the lack of repeated Alt+Tab behaviour. Wierdly, if you also map Meta+Tab to the function, it *does* work to repeatedly hit it.
Unfortunately though, mapping Meta+Shift+Tab to the reverse function simply doesn't work: that key-press is just interpreted as forward still...
