I have a workstation with 2 heads and would like to run an X server with multiple X screens such that each monitors gets it's own DISPLAY number (e.g. :0.0 and :0.1 respectively). When I configure the X server via the Xorg.conf file to achieve this set up, KDE Plasma will start, but only the primary display (:0.0) will have KWin running in it. I am able to set the DISPLAY variable in the command line to the second display (:0.1) and then launch an application (e.g. xterm, xeyes, etc) to that X screen, however without a window manager running in that X screen, it is not usable.
Is it possible to run the X server in this configuration, but also have KWIn running so that it manages windows in both screens? Set up: RHEL 8.3, 2 monitors, Nvidia GTX 1070 graphics card, running nvidia graphics drivers installed via kmod-nvidia rpm from the ELRepo. Any help is appreciated, I'm having trouble finding any information on this, but realize it is a unique probably antiquated way of running displays. |
