Hello there,
Could afford a new PC a few weeks ago, which had a intel i965 integrated graphics card, but worked with no issues at all. This one now has a Intel Corporation UHD Graphics 630 (Desktop), or that's what lspci says. The thing is that with this new setup, blur works only when in X. It wayland the things that are supposed to be blurred (konsole background, plasma panels or widget backgrounds) aren't blurred. I've tried switching from OpenGLES 3.1 to 2 to Xrender (even knowing beforehand blur doesn't work with Xrender, but yolo), and playing with all the other settings in the compositor settings page - no dice. I even created a temporary throwaway user to test this - blur also wasn't working on there. So this lets me to think it's something system-wide. Looked into the wayland log but I can't find anything that seems telling, but will post it if needed. dmesg doesn't have anything related to faulty firmware or something. Output of 'qdbus org.kde.KWin /KWin supportInformation' can be found in this pastebin. |

One month later I still haven't got a clue about what is happening.
The only thing I could find out was that when running systemsettings5 from the terminal and then disabling and reenabling the blur effect, systemsettings5 crashes with a segfault. But no other relevant message shows up, not there, not in the wayland log... I sincerely don't know what to do. |
