Hi there,
I'm not sure if it is kwin or something else. I'm using a video conferencing tool (Google meet, Jitsi meet, Teams, Zoom....) from the browser (Firefox) and do screen sharing. I'm using wayland. Very recently, a new option has been added to the screen sharing portal "new Virtual output": How does this option work? I like the idea of having a fake screen to show only what I want to the other side. But How can I interact with this screen and the windows on this screen. I've only been able to send windows on it using keyboard shortucts but wasn't able to display the virtual output on my screen and thus interacting with the windows on it. How does one access this output to interact with what has been sent there? For reference, someone has posted a similar unanswered question here: https://unix.stackexchange.com/question ... tal-dialog Thanks in advance ! |

Hi erwyn,
I'm using wayland since yesterday and the virtual output looks like a cool feature. Next to my laptop screen I am using an ultrawide monitor and sharing the whole thing is very unpleasant for people with a ratio of 16:9. Therefore I only share the virtual output with a smaller resolution than the ultawide and both overlap. I'd show a screenshot but it does not seem to work... Unfortunately one can only resize and replace the virtual output when sharing is active! I would prefer setting this in advance. Second problem: the virtual output only features certain screen ratios and they do not fit the 2/3 of the ultrawide, that I'd like to pick. |
