Hi,

I would like to switch to kde4.2 but I'm having trouble finding the good configuration.
I would like to enable desktop effects, but this seems to grab the XV display and mplayer cannot open the XV output anymore => I can't see any video.

I tried several output mode for mplayer but xv seems to be the only one which give me a good quality.

Here are some information on my configuration :

- I'm using kde4.2 under Debian GNU/Linux testing (squeeze) and the following packages :

||/ Nom Version Description
+++-===================-=====================
ii kde-window-manager 4:4.2.2-2 the KDE 4 window manager (KWin)
ii mplayer 1:1.0.rc2svn2009050 The Ultimate Movie Player For Linux

- I have an ATI video card RV380 [Radeon X600 (PCIE)] with the fglrx proprietary drivers. here are some extracts from my xorg.conf :

Section "Device"
Identifier "ATI Technologies Inc RV380 [Radeon X600 (PCIE)]"
Driver "fglrx"
Option "OpenGLOverlay" "off"
Option "VideoOverlay" "on"
Option "UseInternalAGPGART" "no"
BusID "PCI:1:0:0"
EndSection

Section "DRI"
Mode 0666
EndSection

Section "Extensions"
Option "Composite" "Enable"
EndSection

Is there a way to let mplayer and kwin desktop effects live together ?

Thanks,
