Hi everyone,
I just bought me a new Mainboard today, it has a AMD 740G chip in it, wich has a Radeon X1200 graphics processor. After doing a fresh install of Kubuntu Jaunty I get some kind of ugly graphic glitches.. (see screenshot ) on the top and on the bottom of my apps.. If I disable shadows its gone, but I dont have any shadows :-S ... I also did a upgrade of my Radeon drivers and upgraded to KDE 4.2.4 .. I also tried RadeonHD .. but no success :'( Someone have any ideas?

I get that problem with my Thinkpad t60 with Radeon X1300. But I don't get it at home on my FreeBSD desktop with Radeon X1550. Both use the same opensource radeon driver (only the kernel drm is different). I think the key difference is the "Mobility" chipset. You may be having a similar problem with your integrated video. p.s. I think the 740G uses the Radeon 2100.
Don't look back! (Or you might see the giants whose shoulders we stand on)

Yeah it could be the Integrated GPU/ "Mobility"chipset, I didnt have this with real Radeon cards before..... But is there perhaps a workaround for this? Is this more KWin related or xorg-radeon?? yes the 740G uses the Radeon 2100, I kinda switched the 1, and the 2

I updated my Kernel DRM, still same issue... I tried the RadeonHD driver, still same problem... is there maybe an xorg.conf option that might help?? :-S
I figured that it has something to do with the shadow (glow) drawing and it only exsist with KDE, trying an Ubuntu LiveCD with gnome didnt have this issue.. I also tried XRender, it works and the shadow glitches are gone... but its to slow and when I move a window the window in the back glitches thru the window i am moving.. :-@ I would be very happy for any ideas on this..
