Ok, this has bugged me since 4.2 series, and I hoped it'd be fixed for 4.3, but apparently isn't.
Compare dragging the window to the desktop edge in order to move it to enother desktop in Kwin and Compiz - in Kwin, the window movement isn't smooth, like in Compiz - the window sort of 'jumps' before it settles in the new desktop. Can I get rid of that? any fix planned? |

You may wish to check to see if a bug report has been filed at bugs.kde.org regarding this, and file one if it has not.

Ok, will see. Are you getting the same behavior as I do? Or is it a user-scecific problem of mine?
PS.: I will file a bug report today. I tried searching for "window desktop edge" "window edge" "window edge switch" and didn't find any relevant bug. |

It's pretty smooth for me. Could you please tell us which KWin effects you use, which is selected for desktop switch, graphic card and driver etc.

I might have the same woes.
When I use my "move current window to next desktop" keybinding, the window gets placed on the next desktop, and then the desktop switch takes place. I like the smooth "grab the window and switch the desktop in the background" way of compiz alot better. Also I wait until more animations and effects are added to the kwin options. So far I cant find a setup that really pleases me, as compiz does: Sliding the windows properly, slide-in animation, being able to assign different "appear" animations to windows and menus (kmenu opening via "zoom in" is just silly, imho), etc. But I keep my eye open for changes made. Hopefully some day kwin will be as complete. |
