Hi,
I'm using KDE 4.3 and liking most things so far but the one thing I can't stand is the enormous grid-like indicator that appears in the middle of the screen each time I switch desktops. It's monumentally awful and pointless. It obscures a large chunk of the screen for almost a second and is covered in irritating arrows telling me which way I switched desktops. This thing should be removed completely. Why not either have nothing or a discrete arrow near the edge of the screen indicating the switch direction. In the mean time, does anybody please know how I can get rid of it? Cheers, Rob |

System Settings -> Window Behavior -> (Window Behavior -> Focus) -> uncheck "Popup desktop name on desktop switch".
Moved to KWin.

Well that was weird: it was unchecked already. I checked it and pressed apply then un-checked it again and pressed apply. Now the thing of evil has gone away. Thank you!
I must say, however, that being able to modify what that thing looks like would be a real boon. |

Nice to hear. Could you please mark the topic as solved by clicking on under the post with the best answer?
There has been some work on the KWin module for 4.4. For example, the task switcher (alt+tab) is now a separate module. Maybe we'll see more options for the desktop switcher in the future.
