Hi,
I'm new here, and I'm new to using KDE. I'm running KDE 4.2 on openSUSE 11.1 (64-bit). I use this system for gaming, and I have a lot of old, linux native games that I'm trying to get working. Right now I'm having trouble with Kohan: Immortal Sovereigns. The problem is that when the game starts, all cinematics are transparent. I can see them, and they appear to work fine, but I'd like them to be opaque, while retaining the transparency stuff that's part of KDE 4.x. I've been searching here and on the net for about an hour and a half, and haven't found anything to help me with this. Is there some kind of (command line) option I can use when launching the game? Or possibly some way to prevent transparency on non-KDE apps? Thanks, Yippee38 |

Right click on the Window Decoration > Opacity > 100%.

I ran the game in windowed mode and did as you suggested. The opacity was already set to 100%.
BTW, the game itself is fine. It's just the movies. |

Do the cinematics appear if you disable Desktop Effects by pressing Ctrl + Alt + F12?

Is that a joke, like "hit Alt+F4"?
When I hit Ctrl + Alt + F12, I go to a new console just like if I were to hit Ctrl + Alt + F2. Ah. I did a quick search and found that it is Alt + Shift + F12. That's more like it. Yes. That fixes the problem. Now I just need a way to do that every time I launch the game, the re-enable it when I close the game. (Or an actual fix to the problem would be cool too.) |

I guess you can script that.
the dbus command for toggling Compositing should be
(Compositing not working here right now, so i can't test) |

Actually, it is Alt+Shift+F12
connect(post, SIGNAL(readSignature()), qapp, SLOT(quit()));

Does anybody have any other suggestions of what I could try? I know this isn't a KDE specific problem, but I don't know where else to ask about this. I suppose I'll try over on the GNOME community too though if I have to.

Unfortunately I do not know why this occurs, however it may be worth ensuring that if the Game has any plugins / etc, that they have all required libraries available. This can be done using the "ldd" utility.
