a fix to kwin composite [SOLVED]

Wed Nov 04, 2009 4:51 pm
hello,

reading this topic:

viewtopic.php?f=111&t=21499

because i had the same problem... but with the command:
Code: Select all
KWIN_COMPOSE=O kwin --replace &

works to me just when i insert that line, but when I reboot the effects desapears again.

and then mention at the end:

viewtopic.php?f=111&t=21499#p80906

Very old thread but we found out a few weeks ago that the "KWIN_COMPOSE=O" is needed only when you are running in "fail safe" mode. The obvious and correct way to fix the problem is to not enter fail safe mode at all! You can enter normal mode from one of the settings in KDM/GDM/whatever.

well the question is that I don't understand about the fail safe mode and what whoul be the correct way because I don't find where to edit or config that.

thanks.

PD: I use Arch x86_64 Kde (Kdemod) 4.3.2
Nividia Drivers

Update: [SOLVED]

If some one has the composite enable and can't run the kwin effects, check at the KDM Login Manager (where you enter your username and pass) that activate the KDE, and not KDE (safe Mode)

that was my problem, I don't know how it was like that but i changed and the effects works.
