Hi,
I'm on Kubuntu 9.10 with KDE 4.3.3 on Dell D630 Everything works fine so far though I did run into issue with undocking. When I undock my laptop Compositing gets disabled. I can't re-enable it until I will restart X server. When I dock back - same. Can't re-enable compositing before resting X. Did some forum and google search bug couldn't find any information or bug reports related to this. Questions: 1) Anyone faced similar issue? 2) Anyone knows solution for that? 3) Is it reasonable to register this as bug? Thanks! |

Do you get a message from KWin stating the reason why Compositing is disabled? Does the dock you are using provide graphical capabilities to your system?

It's basic port replicator. It has video output but no any graphic chips build in.
KWin doesn't give any message when i undock. Compositing gets disabled without a prompt. When trying to re-enable compositing after docking I get the message that I should check my XOrg conf or similar (need to check details again). Will update when I will get written down. |

Hmm. You do not use the graphical port of the dock correct?

Aye I do.
So I use external monitor connected to dock station while docked. And build in display while logged out. Since recent update (including those from ppa lunchpad) this issue is not consistant. Few times I can dock/undock and enable/disable compositing. After few tries it's stops working. Tring to enable it does not bring any effect. Still gathering more data on this one. When I will have useful info I will post here. |
