After upgrading to KDE SC 4.4, I am bothered by window switching with alt-tab. I don't want fancy effects, so I'm using the "no effect" switcher. However, even "no effect" has effects these days; in 4.4, "no effect" scrolls between window items smoothly. This looks sweet, but it makes switching feel really slow. I use alt-tab obsessively, so this really impacts my desktop experience.
I've been fiddling around in System Settings -> Look & Feel -> Window Behavior -> Navigate Through Windows, but I can't find a way to disable the smoothness. "Box switch" doesn't have the smoothness, but I'm less comfortable with that setup. I just want an effectless "no effect" switcher. Is there any way? |

could always put the animation speed to 'instant' or similar, systemsettings, desktop.

Whoooo-hooooo!!!
![]() This is absolutely is a Win7-parity issue (if not blocker for new users), i think this should be mentioned in every "Win2Linux"-Userguide concerning KDE out there. For users like me, having just recently managed to move (finally), after having been used to working in a M$-environment for decades, it would be great if there would be some dropdown in systemsettings to select setting templates, containing "reset to default" (replacing current button), "WinXP-alike", "Win7-alike", "Mac-alike", etc. which should set any settings that can be set that affect the user interaction via keyboard & mouse like they would be on that OS (not meaning a complete design emulation - there's heaps of options out there to do that - it's about the direct man-machine-interaction that is key to ease the transition to *nix for otherwise experienced "power-users" coming from other systems) |
