hi everyone i got a strange thing when i updated to 4.4.1.
when i startx i see the log and then it stops at the desktop log
and freez my box.i found out it was the kwin desktop-effect.i have
gentoo as OS.to get in to KDE i had to remove kwin and replace it
with metacity.then i have to startx,kmenu,settings,default app...
win manager and set metacity as default,logout,reinstall kwin,startx
kmenu,settings desktop disable desktop-effects.then i kan start kde with
kwin.the thing is that i want to have compiz and its the same there
something with emerald win manager.everything worked fine with kde-4.4.0

Issues such as this are likely unrelated to KDE, this sounds like a graphics driver which is broken. Please check to make sure your driver is properly configured.

Yes i know what you meen.My gpu-settings
is ok but not dri and dri2 (wont load sometimes)
the thing is that i kan load compiz without à win
manager and metacity is running good.as i wrote
it worked in 4.4.0.i made à newinstall with
radeonhd driver and kwin started with desktop-effects
but couldnt load any effects.now i use fglrx.
could it be some thing i havent update
(fglrx dont follow updates some Times')

Try using XRender instead of OpenGL, or disable the requirement for direct rendering with OpenGL. You can change these settings in System Settins > Desktop > Desktop Effects > Advanced.
