Avoid opening new windows on top of krdc

Hi,

I use a 2 screens setup.
The right screen of my first virtual desktop is dedicated to krdc where I have a connection to a windows box in full screen mode (I have to use this because I must connect to an MS-Exchange server at least until kmail+akondi+openchange+"reply to html mail" is available).

When another window goes under the krdc full screen window you cannot make it move above unless you exit the fullscreen mode of krdc.

I'd like to forbid any other window to appear on this right screen.
Is there a way to do that?

Yes you can tell kwin on which screen new windows should be shown. Somewhere in systemsettings there is an option for it...

The only place I found was in the "display setting" - "multi monitors" where you can specify on which display "un anaged windows" should appears but it doesn't seem to solve my problem.

You can also specify the geometry of a each specific application the (this is what I use for krdc) but I obviously can't do that for every window.

Setting "Window Behavior" - Advanced - Placement to "smart" doesn't prevent kwin to open windows on top of another window in full screen mode.

Setting krdc to "keep above" doesn't seems to work either.

there is also an option I think in Window Behaviour that active screen follows mouse. With this option enabled new windows are always opened on the screen the mouse is. I think that could work for you, as you probably won't have the mouse on the krdc window when opening new windows.

Indeed, setting "Setting Follow Mouse" is a good workaround.
Thanks
