I have tried everything I can think of to get compositing working, but every time I apply the settings it bumps me out of destop effects. Can anyone help?
I'm using the nvidia 96... driver with my Geforce4 video card, and it has worked until about a month ago. |

Did anything else change? Did you upgrade your distribution or change you xorg.conf or something like that?

I don't get it either. If I were you I'd ask at kubuntuforums.net stating full graphic card name and driver and above all check your /var/log/Xorg.0.log for anything googable...

The only thing that I could think of was something changed when I upgraded the kernel a few weeks ago. As for the xorg log information: I had no errors and the warnings were minimal and seemed to be unrelated to my problem. I also compared older versions of xorg, comparing them to my current one and trying them as potential fixes... nothing helped.
However, I did get composite working again when I rebooted and used recovery mode. Dpkg found about 22 files to upgrade, which I did, and now everything is back to normal. |
