i've been trying to get tiling working, with limited success, but i seem to be making some progress.

problem: tiling doesn't seem to work automatically. when a second application/window is opened, it appears maximized and the windows aren't tiled (the new window covers the original).

however, i've found that if i unmaximize the window, close it, then re-open it, everything is tiled properly.

is this a kwin bug? is there a way to load programs unmaximized (without tweaking the properties of each individual app)? would this even solve the problem?
